Hi, I'm Tanya.
I remember one time as a child walking around my backyard, noticing tree bark, chipped paint on the side of our garage, garden flowers, my dad’s workshop window, and framing each little scene in my mind. Armed with a simple film camera, I attempted to preserve what I had already reserved in attention. From a young age I wondered at the latent stories in the overlooked details and under-appreciated, “ordinary” moments.
The wonder remains.
As I’ve moved through new seasons and places I still carry a curiosity (and a little nicer camera) that bids me halt and heed. Because, to tell a story you have to stop, take notice, ask, receive and maybe even stick your chin in the dirt.
My story now is layered, colorful, and often messy (with three, wild, beautiful children). I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend. I am a musician, teacher, traveler, a lover of people and cultures of the world. Most of all, I am a character in the Great Story, one where the Teller has entered into the chaos of this world to lift up beauty from brokenness and shed light on the hidden things.
And that’s why I take pictures: to practice uncovering the Creator’s artistry and grace in everything and with all.
